Re: MLRS
I remember sitting in my drivers hatch on a ridgelinne, overlooking the valley while the show was going on. Wish the pictures would've come out, but cheap camera use at night equates vangogh-like photos.

Re: MLRS
I did the cheap WalMart camera thing also just in case the sand ruined it and I lost something like 40 rolls of fill because of it. Had I known then what I know now, I would have spent the money on a quality camera and had some awesome pics. Its a shame we did not have digital camera and digital camcorders back then.

Re: MLRS
Had a guy in our unit did the camcoder thing ... filmed everything from Germany, Saudi, Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi, Germany.
I don't know what come of it, but it would be a good piece of history.

Re: MLRS
when we got back to benning, the men who took them to like a walmart or 1 hr. photo were the same way. some where just black, no pic, my sqd leader took his and others pics to a private photo lab an had them developed.
they told us that any graphic pics would"nt be developed at public photo shops. guess the gov. stepped in to try an stop people from seeing how much destruction, death we done in a short time. might ruin they"re perfect image of things....

They damn sure had a lock down on bringing much back ... maybe the pictures were part of it.

Re: MLRS
Knowing what I know now, I coulda brought back a T-72 tank. My trip thru the patdown prior to leaving and the "never stopped walk right through" customs coming into Philly was a cakewalk. I wasn ever asked about having anything I shouldn't have. I have some pics that fall within that status of "should have been taken or blacked out".

Re: MLRS
We weren't nearly as lucky. We went back into Germany, and they did random searches of bags and personell at every leg of the trip. We sent our equipment to Ft. Sill, so we didn't see it again for several months.

Re: MLRS
I just wanted to set the record straight on this photo. It was not 4/27 it was 1/27. We had 3 battery's 27 launchers going off at once, I believe this was taken on Feb 2, 1991. We had a number of news media there. It was the first time MLRS was ever used at night. There is also a you tube video of this from my unit that we posted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RkzVvZHC6w
