sheesh.... I don't remember this poll, and I thought I was AWOL from here since June, anyway. (sigh) Well, if the bandwidth Gods say I already voted, I just hope I did so appropriately and none of that Oldies crap.Dagger X-Ray wrote:Then you already voted. I don't remember. But I got a kick out of those Arabic stations trying to find AFRN. A lot of wailing and weird music.crockit wrote:anyone remember what AFRN played late at night? we used to get some wierd station late at night.
After we made our move to our logistics site the morning of the Jan 17, 1991 (north of Tapline road, east of Rafha) we had no AFRN for a number of days. AM/FM radios could only pick up Arabic speaking stations. We had only one short wave radio in our unit, we could get the BBC International clearly. All news, but it was better than nothing.

Hell no, in fact I saw them open for Motley Crue back in 86 and when Motley finished their set, the crowd roared and chnted for G&R to come back on, of course they didnt. I just did not happen to have any G&R with me.

i went to war with a unit that did country, what was rap in 1991 and ballads
I heard
you can't touch this - mc hammer
ice ice baby - vanilla ice
OVER and OVER again - until i tok the unit's tape and smashed it
my troops were told they'd do sandbags until i got tired if i EVER heard that anything by merya carry or the wind beneath my wings song (Bet Midler)
i would have killed for some metal

Re: What was on your Desert Shield/Storm Soundtrack?
AC/DC, ZZ top, Guns and Roses, A couple Ozzy tapes and some mixed country tapes. We did a lot of tape trading with other units just to have some variety. But the ones listed above were the ones I didn't trade.
