62nd Engineer Battalion - 20th Airborne Engineers

Post by San Antonio GWV » Wed May 09, 2007 5:11 pm

I was wondering if anyone that served in DS in 1990 - 1991 were a part of the 62nd Engineers? I am looking for some old friends and noticed that the battalion was not listed here.

Just wondering.

SPC Alvarado,

I was the commander of Bravo Company during Desert Storm. Some of our guys are still roaming around...some of us even stayed in Texas. Our battalion commander, Steve Massey, retired in the Dallas area and Jack Otteson (one of my platoon leaders) and I still stay in touch in Fort Worth.

I came across your message as I was looking for my old driver, SPC Longpre. Hope you're well.

I was in B Co. 62nd Engineer Battalion. Jack Otteson was my platoon leader and Dan Patton was my C.O. I have been wondering about a few people myself. I remember alot of people, just can't remember names. SPC Longpre's first name was Mark but, for the life of me I cannot remember what state he was from. I did get a number for SGT Larry Purviance, not sure if it is the right one or not (tried to call and it just rang). Also was wondering about SPC Gil Yzaguirre, SGT Ralph Saccomano, SFC Perry Williams..........can't think of anymore right now, see faces in my head but, not any names. If anyone, somehow, can come up with anymore names, please try to post here.......THANKS!!!!

I was wondering if any one had heard from SPC Walter Williams? He was in HHC. The last I heard he was in Ohio.

yea, thats it. that was a combat heavy unit if i remember. I was in ALPHA CO. we had those old big ass d-8 dozers. THATS cool, brings back some memories. when i was there we did nothing but hang out at the moter pool and eat samitches,,, peace time and money cuts, the army had a stand down policy on projects. but we always went to NTC. I kinda remember the 20th engr. they use to jump in to NTC, and we trained together. anyway thanks!

I felt bad for the dudes that were there during the last cycle before deployment, that had to suck! Iheard they left straight from dust bowl to saudi. BUT ACTUALLY you would be prepaired i guess. ALL though i have to admit i always loved NTC.
