401st POW Camp Al Sarrar

Post by jeff broy » Sun Mar 14, 2004 10:54 pm

Was looking for anyone who was at the 401st pw camp. Out of 117 members of my unit, about 13 now have illnesses. Sound strange? We picked up about 20,000 pows including the great elite guard We where attached to the 7th and worked under the 800th MP at the 401st pw camp. Our unit is the 157th MP Company oldest unit in the US Army. Started in 1773 by Morgan Morgan in West Virginia. Also called up this time around for two years. Came home December the 24th 2003. Our sister unit is still in Iraq in Bagdad at this time and proud to be serving.
was in desert storm from Dec-June 91

I was with the 401st MP camp, and we have a couple that are sick as well, including myself. I had a 3 inch goiter and 1/2 my thyroid removed about 12 years ago and recently had an atypical meningioma brain tumor removed (it had unusual aggressive tendencies, and was trying to reach down and wrap itself around the blood vessels in my brain). I "may" possibly have damage of the Vagus nerve as well (undergoing testing now). Out of 20 or so that I contacted from my unit I recieved responses from about 14 or so, out of the 14 or so there were 12 or 13 that have had or currently have issues with thyroid and/or cysts. I know of at least one that has been very sick and is fighting the VA now, I just filed an unofficial claim two days ago. my email is baderwoman007@yahoo.com
