That's how they roll. They have gotten better. At least the VA I got to now is better. Still frustrating. I have a rep now though so that is better.

I just got back from the gulf war exam at the VA in Orlando. Interesting, from what they said they are going to be moving quick on these claims. Interesting questions.

Well it was a long day, and i needed to get home. Im going to use the VA rep localy. I feel good about it, yes Its the first time iv ever felt like a vet. The questions were very blunt, as was the Phisical. They seem to be ready to to fix things,or at least thats the impresion i got. Iv already been diagnosed with 3 symptems, Last week i got a letter from the VA that some blood work came back, and i have to do an upper and lower GI rad. But yes, it went well,i just have to get my hearing put in my medical records and then ill see the VA rep. And they also gave me travel pay. I was treated very well. wish it could have been like this 20 years ago.

Good question as to why the increase in interest. I want to believe it's because of the research and that the research demonstrates something. I also want to believe it's because of all the folks that have been fighting for this. I suspect it is politically motivated, but hope it is something more substantial.

Remember about the new eye on your ass. Better get your claims in. Just like agent orange..30 years later big bro says "ok,ok yes we knew about it but we had to wait until a bunch of ya died to save 20 or so dollars but yes that stuff causes death and stuff and yes we knew that then and yes we have denied ever hearing about it or knowing anything about it but.... ok here's 50 bucks get a contact lens for that new eye on your ass so you can see us kicking you in it for 20 years".

Oh hell yeah! IF they admit something, there are potentially 700,000 folks that will lay claim ... as it should be.

History does repeat but each generation seems to get a little bit wiser and more assertive, so keep on talking, they have to listen. I believe some of the politicians have had kids or relatives who have served and are seeing the effects firsthand, so are starting to take more notice.

20% of Iraq and Afghanistan vets are returning with PTSD. Lots of young help coming to push the VA in to treating us better, Good point DW. :)

It is a wonder there was not more friendly fire incidents. I remember being on guard in Iraq after the cease fire. We were told to be sure what we fired at because there was friendly dismounted units sweeping through at night. I guess the commanders of those units knew where we were and they kept us seperated to prevent contact. But with all the chaos. Plus half the time us engineers were scattered all over.....

I was told by a OIF case worker that the younger vets are being much more vocal with their demands and they are getting want they want. She told me to be more vocal and demanding as well. I've been doing that and I have been making progress, but slow progress. I wonder how much of it stems from 15 years of crap in my records?

Progress is progress though ... so we'll see where the next round goes.

Not working really well ... but it gives me the sense that I am fighting the good fight. I'd really like to be seen as cooperative, but then I was cooperative once and look where it got me.
