Anyone stay at KBT during the first 3 weeks of the war? And if so does anyone have photos they would like to share?

I never saw any scud atacks while I was at Kobar but as soon as we went to the port, I saw a few. Looked like bottle rockets shooting at other bottle rockets.

What unit were you?

Sometime in 1990.

Remember the bootleg cassette tape stores, the li'l Asian laundry women, the apartments set aside for public group viewing of movies? And those places were just what was inside the compund.

First time I ever saw Seals with Charley Sheen was inside one of those apartments.

Did you get to see the "Groove Crickets" or was it the "Groove Monsters" play their concert there? I taped it but the tape is so bad its not even worth trying to listen to, in fact I am not even sure if I still have it.

I remember we used to go to a mall outside Khobar and eat in a steak house that had an awesome cut of meat, probably camel or something but it sure was damn good. I remember prayer time at the mall, the whole mall literally stopped moving, all stores closed, everyone knelt and prayed then everything opened back up and everyone started moving again.

There was a public behanding of a woman while I was there but we avoided it.

Probably the same from all the video clips online I have seen.

Here is a 10 year old pic for anyone wondering what Khobar Towers is. This is only a fraction of what the place really is.

Yes that is from the bombing back in 1996. The PX's I remember were lots of small areas. I do not remember 1 large PX.

I fondly remember the short time my unit spent at Kobar Towers. We were on our way back home and stayed there for a few days before going to King Fahd Airport.

The funny thing was that the reason our troops were able to stay there was because the Saudi government built the place for the Beudoins to live there but they declined so the whole place stood empty.

I also remember the mall that was there. I also remember the Safeway store that wasn't too far either. I believe there was a KFC in the same shopping center. My LT bought all the stuff to make home made wine.
