Welcome to the forums Brother, I was with 2nd Brigade 1st Infantry during the storm.

Got any stories or pictures you want to share?

By the way, did I post the correct unit insignoa for your avatar? The avatar section of the forum is all screwed up for now.

Question since you were near me over there. Do you have any health/mental problems that you are currently receiving VA disability for? I have issues that I am being told I should get statement from others with or near me over there. One of the 2-16th Infantry guys within my brigade is 100% VA Disabled and was working for the Sarasota Fl VA as a VSO but I can't get ahold of him anymore.

...and I to you as well if it helps. Go refile again. Things are more lax now than they were even 3 years ago.

For years I felt that I was on an island with all my issues but reading some of the stories sure help out... Anyone needing info on the mass burials aand would like a statement, I was there too.... Its not something I like to talk about but if it helps anyone I can assist with any statements...

I witnessed one of the mass burials, we were not supposed to be tehre but we went anyway. Not like Top was anywhere near us.

The best way to post pics is to upload them somewhere online and then click on the "Img" box in the "Post a Reply" window then enter the URL of the picture. If you keep having problems, e-mail them to me and I will get them up for me.

I am going to my local county VA office tomorrow with my Claims paperwork. He told me once I get it fromt eh VA to NOT fill anything out on it, to come in and see him first. I'll let you know what I hear and if I need something from you statement wise, I'll let you know. I'll let him know I came across someone within my brigade that was in close proximity to me the whole time I was over there and see what he says. He comes with excellent recommendations by other vets here in my area.

We just missed each other then, lol. Was COLD as !@#$ there though. I remember marching to the ranges on the ice.

Appt went.....??????????? I got kind of discouraged with all of the guys "you gotta prove this, you gotta prove that" crap. I filed for a Tinitus claim while in and was denied and here I am filing again and he tells me I gotta prove it happened from the service. LIke I can prove I was around Iraqi tanks blowing their tops within 50' of me and so on. He tells me I have to prove I was around the carnage and other crap that I have nightmares about to this day, duh, I can prove I was part of a combat unit and there, he says I still have to prove it though. As far as my trouble sleeping/sleep apnea, he says I have to prove it was caused by my service time, once again how? I gotta prove the rashes up both of my legs that the VA began treating shortly after I got out was caused....well you know the deal.

I'll be PM'ing you soon about some of this since you were near me

It sucks but its still true. The burden of proof still is on us. Get your buddy letter. Get a letter from your doc stating that it is because of your service or during your service. Right a good stressor letter. Get a letter from the your wife and family and friends or boss. The more evidence you get the better.

That kinship is a part of all of us, we have more in common with each other than with our on kin folks...or at least I do.... Drop by leave a quote or just lend an ear....

Most of my socialization is done over my CB, I have more friends there than in person. Not much face to face other than when putting a face to the voice in passing.

Because of my job in a college Veteran Affairs/Financial Aid office, I deal with people all day. The low income mooches that come in really piss me off but when the vets come in, its all good, the commraderie flows again. It helps me that there are are 4 other vets in my office. At the end of the day, I am over it and ready to come home to the only other people I have any desire to socialize with; my wife and 2 kids.
