Get people like Oprah, Rosie O'Donnell, Elen Degenerate (sp? ). Angelina Jolie, andothers like them to start preeaching it and telling people to call their Senators, Congressman, Governors and so on. This country has turned into too many bleeding hearts, what would happen if we went into another full scale lar like WWII? We'd lose worse than we are now because of all the panzies deserting, going out of country, or refusing to join and going ot jail instead.

WHERE'S THESE PEOPLES PATRIOTISM?

Sure, I would be upset if my son or daughter joined and was shipped out to fight, even madder than hell god forbid he/she get killed, but I would still support them and my country for doing what was right.

I hear ya ... seems like the politicians listen to the folks with the money and the big audiences.

The only reason I give a damn is because if the US goes down, economically, politically, or otherwise ... it's gonna take me with it.

Hard to accept, but that's reality.

I blame "PC" (Political Correctness) BS creeping throughout society .
Call a worthless bum a worthless bum .
Call a thief a thief . Don't forgive him because his father didn't claim him and his mother didn't read him bed time stories . We as a nation have to get over this self centered "victim mentality" , take responsibility for our actions , and stop being so afraid of hurting someones feelings that we don't speak the truth . Above all else call the loud , audience grabbing nuts , nuts and flacks . Shame the stupid idiots into silence or to moving to a more socialist country like they are trying to make ours .

I heard a senator say that he thought the war in Iraq was causing people to lose confidence in Congress. I 'bout fell out of my chair. I think Congress is causing people to lose confidence in the war in Iraq.

To Me what some senators and congressmen have said is treasonous.
It gives comfort to Our enemies and is demoralizing to the troops and general populous .

I'm a State Captain in Veterans for Freedom which a non partisan group that believes in finishing this mission properly. We made a trip to DC on the 17th and 18th. Ate breakfast on the south lawn with the President, VP, Sec of State, and Laura Bush. Then met with tons of Senators and Congressmen to let it be known that we don't the troops pulled out until the mission was over.

One senator said why don't I go back If I feel that strongly? I said, well I'm 100% disabled but if you can find a place for me and get me the medicines I need, I'll suit up and go. I already have a package in volunteering for return to active duty. Army just ain't said "yes" yet is all. I invited him to join me and get a real feal for what it means to be a Soldier in the South West Asia. No dog and pony show as usual. You team up with me and we go patrol with the grunts providing medical coverage. He didn't seem to thrilled by that idea. I said, if a broke dick MSG like myself is willing to go back, a young healthy man like you should have no objections. Then you can speak about this war with experience under your belt.

I may be the odd ball here, but I'd spent at that time 3 years in the Corps playing war. I finally got to do my job, I was proud of it. I did not want to go but I knew that I had to. I was a part, just a small one, of history. I was forward with Recon and in the rear with the Radio BN. but all in all I will never forget it. My right leg won't let me.

Yeah, I had my Squad Leader approach me about this (sort of) just before we deployed. I am the "Sole Surviving Male" of the family (translation: I am a male with two younger sisters, but no brothers). So about a week before deployment, my Squad Leader asked me if I basically wanted to "opt out" of going to the Gulf. It was strange, I didn't really want to go, but I also felt a strong sense of duty to stay with the buddies that I had in my unit.

So I went. Did six months. Got bombed by our own Air Force. Hated every minute of it.

Glad I did it, though. Wouldn't want to do it again, but wouldn't trade the experience for anything.

There were actually a few people from my unit who told their Squad Leaders that they "only joined for the college fund" and would kill themselves if they were sent to the Gulf. Those people got to stay in Germany while we were in the Gulf, but all they did was pull guard duty at the post gate, and then when we returned they were all dishonorably discharged.

When I joined the Army in 1987, I never imagined in my wildest dreams that I would ever get deployed. The Cold War was "warming" and there weren't any clear dangers in the world which threatened the U.S., or so I thought. When we were told we were going to Saudi Arabia a CW2 stood infront of our company and said "some of you may not come back alive". He was a Veitnam Veteran, and it scared the crap out of alot of us.

I have a host of problems, Depression, Body Aches, Knee problems, Tinnitas (ringing in the ears). The post deployment health assesment, nonexistant back then, was a joke. I was never treated for my depression, and it was worse this last deployment to Iraq. My PTSD is back with a vengance. I cant stop the nighmares. Hopefully the Army can help me with this stupid once a month appointment. Im not sure why they wont send some of us here in FT. Eustis off post for more regular treatment.

Take a copy of your DD 214 and run, don't walk, to the nearest Vet Center. They will get you the help you need for your PTSD and Depression. Not the VA hospital mind you, the Vet Center. The councilors are all combat vets and are very good. They only work on mental problems and can even point you to the right places to help with your disability claim.

That's how it was for me. Took me 11 years but I made 100%. I used the DAV to represent me and I cannot stress how much help the Vet Center (NOT the VA but Fet Center) helped in reaching that goal. If you don't have a one of the veteran's organizations representing you, the get one tomorrow. DAV, VFW, Amer. Legion all will provide that service free of charge. Then take your DD 214 and get thee to a Vet Center right away. Look them up under "Vet Center" in the phone book. I promise you that you will not regret it.
