Let me clarify; they are accurate in the sterile military sense. They say nothing of the bullshit that went along with it ... none of the interaction, stress, dumb-assed-ness, selfishness, etc that went with it.

It's like reading the AAR's It lacks the smell, fear, sounds and feeling. There's no confusion no chaos no anger no sadness. I remember the first time I read the accounts of March 2nd 1991 and all it said was 197th 1/18 D co had two men killed burning trash. That's it? Thats all? It tells NOTHING of what happened that day.

Right ... two men killed burning trash ... Engaged elements of Iraqi 10th Armored Bde ... 89 Iraqi soldiers surrendered ...

Factually accurate, but not very descriptive.

I couldn't find this online, but this is what the DESERT JAYHAWK magazine looks like; it's got a good overview of VII Corps in DS:

This is a day-by-day history of 2nd ACR during the gound campaign:

And redfish posted these:

http://www.history.army.mil/books/www/www8.htm

I also have a copy of a document that accounts the 3/17 FA during Desert Shield/Storm.

Very cool. I just bid on the Jayhawk book. Can you post the 3/17 document online? Thank you.

I'm not sure how to go about doing that ... I'd have to scan the pages, then post them ... let me think on that for a bit.

No, don't go nuts. I thought you had them already on your computer.
Save it for a future project.
