Do you think a portion blew first and then the rest? There were several explosions if memory serves. Yes, the reports are very vague. Why the one massive explosion? Where did the schrapnel come from? Yep, I recall we could not keep nuthin' else.

if my memory serves me right...big if these days... the trailer was supposed to have had dynomite in it. if that was true, then the trailer was also probably carry other demo, maybe mines also. trailer caught fire, dynomite blew, then maybe the other type demo blew or mines , maybe both. hence secondary explosions. the sharpnel could be from any thing inside the trailer, shovels, tools, etc, maybe even parts of the trailer itself.
we"ll never know what the truth about what was in that trailer, unless there"s somebody out there that looked in it when they picked it up. somebody had to at least look inside when they got the trailer.
wish i knew more,

Must have been old 'sweaty' dynamite or something to be so unstable to go up that early into the fire. It was just the canvas burning. Unless there was some fuel in there. Small explosion got our attention and then 2 or 3 minutes later a nasty ass explosion large enough to throw it in the air and level all of us around it.

if the dynaomite was "sweaty" then it was very easily set off . just dropping the stick, or say something landing on it couls set it off.
there"s gotta be somebody out there who looked in that trailer. if there is they prob never told it after that happened.

They drug the trailer out of our perimeter and they yellow taped around it probably cuz it had explosives in it.
