Thanks again redfish. I was part of 2nd COSCOM (which was part of VII Corps in Germany). Shortly after we got back to Germany, 2nd COSCOM was deactivated and we became 3rd COSCOM. It is hard to find out anything about the 2nd COSCOM.

Hay Guys... Seabee here.

If anyone is interested...."I HAVE A BIG MILITARY MAP!"

A close friend of mine was a former Major in the Army, and he was able to get me a map when I started looking for the people and place I'd been during DS/DS.

Sooooo, If any of you are interested, just give me an E-mail shout-out.
Go To:
Desert Veteran Search (www.desertveteransearch.com) all my contact information is on the website.

PS: Oh yeah...almost forgot...the MAP can not be reproduced. I have tried but the "civilians" do not have the capasity to copy it clearly. But I can look up a coordinance for you.

Dude, what kind of things are on the map? Is it a terrain with military grids on it or a civilian map. Does it have objectives and phase lines on it. How about GPS coordinates. I'd definitely be interested to hear about it.

Redfish...

The map i have is a 'military grid', U.S. Army type map, and it can not be reproduced. The map is of Northern Saudia Arabia, lower Iraq & Kuwait. The map also gives the names of local locations, and has topographical location landmarks (ie: Wadi's, Oil fields, Haffel al Batten, Res Al Meshalb, Al Jubail and Al Jabber Air base, Kuwait, etc.).
I took it to Kinko's once to make a copy of it...and they were not able to reproduce a clean copy. As I said before...the map is a military map of the regin.
I suggest you call me...tell me what your looking for, and I'll look for it on the map then tell you what the surrounding area is within the grid. My phone number is on my website (www.desertveteransearch.com). I am usualy home in the evenings after 6:00pm. That's 1800 hrs. military time. (lol)
Sorry, I digress.

If the map does not go north enough to cover Nasiriyah Iraq, then I'm afraid it would not cover our AO. I do appreciate it though.

Any one interested should go map google the city nearest you in Iraq and follow the roads out in to the desert. See a lot burms and fighting positions. I am sure most of it is from the reason war there but I found it interesting. Dagger turned me on to it.

Hay Redfish

You are right. My map does not go north enough to show An Nasareyah. About as far north as Al Wasarareah is as close as I can get for your AO. Sorry dude. Wish I could be of better help.

Hey smokejumper, you were 317, I was 72 ENGR as was haze and tricky89 on here. Did y'all get scattered like we did? Man we went out to the infantry units in our brigade like moths to lights. We were just a company attached to a brigade. We were not a battalion.

I don't know if this will prove to be useful to anyone but it helped me in understanding a bit more about where we were and the time frame involved.

http://www.tim-thompson.com/desert-storm.html

There is also an Order of Battle section and breaks it down into the groups. I was confused as to the units deployed and in theater versus what info I have found listed thus far. In my example they do not list 46th Chemical Co. or 84th Chemical Co. yet they list the 181st Chemical Co. . Apparently they lumped the 46th and the 84th together and associated it with HHC that was listed as the 181st.

Anyway I hope this is useful.
