I put in for the sleep disorder but was denied without even having an exam. You can go down to the VA and sign up for an evaluation because you were in Desert Storm. I can't remember what it is called. Maybe one of our other members can help me out here. Good luck with it.

Go to the VA, get your Gulf War physical and let your VA PCC know you have have trouble sleeping for years now. He will most likely set you up for a sleep study. I had my civilian PCC order my study and was determined to have sleep apnea and got a CPAP. About 5 years later I mentioned it to my VA PCC that I had that done years back and he said to bring him a copy of the study results and he would see that it was added to my VA file and then the VA would cover all my apnea needs from then on. Sure enough they did. I know have a APAP, a BPAP and the original CPAP I got through my Civilian PCC. Anytime I need filters or a new mask, I just stop into the Prosthetics lab at the VA and they give me new pieces/parts.

Thanks Dagger. I submitted for sleep apnea and it was declined. No sleep study at the VA. I did one through my private insurance and have had a cpap for a couple of years now. I was declined by the VA based on my 1992 Gulf Registry exam. I of course have appealed it.

Now take a copy of your sleep study to your VA PCC for him to add to your file. You should get a call from the SVA Sleep clinic sometime after that and they may do their own study too. Things are different now with DS claims than they were then.

I am glad I found this place. I have sleep apnea and have been using a CPAP for years and had no idea that I could have been getting this stuf from the VA. Thanks.

That's OK, I did it for the honor and freedom of those people, not the money

I remember that ... it was in the papers. I would've taken the money. I was married and drawing BAQ and BAS. They stopped our BAS so we basically took a $200 a month cut in pay. They stopped the COLA for Germany as well. Screwed us big time on the money.

Did any of you get a bonus from your State? New Hampshire gave all Gulf War Veterans a $200.00 Bonus for serving.
