I have been out of the Army for around 10 years (retired) I was in desert storm and about A year ago I developed a tumer in my neck and the Dr. thought it was a simple operation but it was much bigger then she thought and I had to go and see a Cancer Dr. and He removed it from the neck and it was malignat (hope I spelled that right) and I went through Chemo and Radiation and it really hurt. I am better now and doing well and all scans show no Cancer left as of this point. The Dr. could not tell me what caused it but did not rule out chemicals but was not for sure. My question is has anyone else had any tumers in the head and neck area since they have returned? If someone has please let me know if you can what caused it and if it was from the war.

I got a letter from the VA a few years back . In a nut shell it read ,
"Desert Storm Vet.'s are far more healthy than thier fellow citizens !
They do however have twice the average rate of Brain turmors .
There is no test so don't ask , and War service did not cause it ! " .
I paraphrased a little , but that's mostly what it said .
I showed it to a Viet Nam Vet. I worked with , He just shook his head and
said "Agent Orange All over " . Glad to hear of Your improvements .
Best of luck !

First, it's "tumors". (Think Arnold Schwartzenieger in Kindergarten Cop.)

Second, it should be noted that, at least here at the VA in San Antonio, the "Gulf War Registry/ Gulf War Syndrome" is the same location as "Agent Orange" outpatient clinic.

The point that My coworker was trying to make , and I relate , was that
the government will deny , delay , and protest any "service related " issue .
They will keep it up for decades , and deny many of the care they deserve .
While I personaly don't have many issues , and have never tried to get any
assistance , many have and been denied . I think the government is doing
better by this generation than they did the last , just not by much .
