I had no idea where were actually at, but it was somewhere south of the Iraq, Kuwait, and Saudi border juncture. In January, we jumped further north (just off the border) and during the ground war we jumped about 3 times until we were in Iraq and west of Kuwait (almost to the the HOD). We left the desert in April and spent two weeks in the apartments for the nomads that were never used and I got home in late April. From September until April we lived in a bunker. We got one visit to the Aramaco homes/host family for a 4 hour shower and dinner. It was awesome.

Miss the adreneline of doing something important.
OK, now I remember those apartments!! I can't believe how much shit I forget from that time in my life. I remember taking a long bath after we got there!!! Now I am truly not sure of the moves we made after the ground war ended. I wish my memory was better!!!

Let's see: Dharan on the track compound near that giant sized propane tank. Then off to KKMC where were lived in the dirt accross from the giant brand new fixed facility Hospital that the National Guard unit fell into while we used our TEMPER hospital and slept in GP large tents. Then up to area Walnut for the 24th waiting for the ground war. Then we split into 3 pieces. One piece was the Forward Surgical Element which was the first up medical unit to roll into Iraq. We set up at FOB1 on the front lines of the 24th ID Then we had a mixture of 4 MASHs, the 5th Mash and the 32 MASH leaped over the FSE to establish a double hospital at DSA2 and the 2nd and 10th MASHs sat in the road to take the next jump. Only the war ended too soon and the only action they saw was us working on the wounded. Then we fell back in jumps to cover the pull out into Saudi Arabia. We eventually wound up back in Dharan waiting a month or so to go home.

There was no permentent camp made by the U.S. .
We used Saudi "Military Cities" , the equvilant to Forts here in the U.S. ,
or the appartment complexes that the Saudi's had bulit for the Bedouin(I.E. Kobar Towers) .
All the "Sites" I'm aware of were tents .

We had tents in the staging areas, and slept in our tracks or tents after we moved to our assembly areas.

Does anyone remember "Camp Toilet"?

I think it was officially called camp to let.

I just wanted to make sure it was real and not some kind of weird dream.

Don't know ... I stayed a the Dew Drop Inn when we first arrived. We deployed to a tent city at KKMC when we returned to Saudi from Iraq, then we stayed in tents at Kobar Towers while waiting our turn to turn ship equipment and board planes.

Our unit arrived in Dammam in late December. We stayed in a warehouse out on one of the wharfs waiting for our gear (Special Troops Battalion, Headquarters VII Corps). Once our container came in, we shipped out to the desert. Our first stop, for about 3-4 weeks, was at the VII Corps rear, somewhere southwest of Hafr Al-Batin. We then moved to VII Main, which was about 15 or 20 miles due west of Hafr Al-Batin, just past the radio tower. We were there for the actual war (into April), then moved down to Riyadh briefly, then on to Dharhan to wait at the airport. We were there until early May, sleeping in a parking garage.

While in the desert, we were in several GP Mediums the entire time. We got so good at putting them up and taking them down that we could get a Medium up with 3 or 4 people in about 10 minutes, 15 including camo nets, and we were often called on to help other units in our compound establish theirs.
