JANSON, THOMAS D
Command Sgt. Major U.S. Army (Ret.). Age 74, November 9, 2008. Beloved husband of the late Barbara. Dear father of Charles (Melinda) and Bridget Janson. Loving grandfather of Celeste, Jenna, Maureen and Patrick. Also survived by long time companion Barbara Jenkins. In state Wednesday 2-9 p.m. with Scripture Service 7 p.m., 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Rosary 7:30 p.m. at A. H. Peters Funeral Home , 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. In state Thursday 9:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores. Interment White Chapel Cemetery.

Not only was Tom my friend and mentor, he was my drinking buddy.

Thank you. They buried him in his Class A's and I put a Lyskawa VFW Post drink chip in his jacket pocket. I was able to buy him one last drink. He was supposed to be my installing Office at my installation last year but he was unable to attend. We had a lot of good times and drank a lot of beer together. He was a two time past Post Commander and a one time District Commander. I put the cross on his Post Commander's picture at the Post to signify that he is deceased.
