Call it gulf war syndrome. You can always submit statements from friends, employers or family about your symptoms. Include a statement from yourself. Get a letter from your doc etc. Do you have a rep?

Request a Neurophsych evaluation, they will do testing to determine the type and severity of cognitive memory loss. Make sure you state EVERYTHING that you were exposed to, (i.e. oil smoke, PB pills, burn pits, Kamashiya Bunkers, pesticides...). I've been tested several times to follow the rate of decline. It's real and veterans are getting ratings for it. Get a good rep to help you.

Use the NGWRC health care guide that is on their website. They give out a lot of free help to veterans on GWI claims.

Re: re: va help
They are all different in every part of the U.S.
I have done a lot of claim from VA & FL that the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) given up on. At one time they was the best, but not now. I was trained by them back in 1994 before it all became OJT. Ask other GWV as to the best one around you to use.

Re: re: va help
american legion, vfw, dav, these all have service reps that can help. shop around, find the best one for you. saddly , some are better than others.
i was in our local legion the other day, getting some stuff together, a wwII vet came in to see about his claim, he'd first started it with the dav back in .....1947!!!!
.
this claim has been open nonstop since 1984!!!!
the dav had his social # wrong , by one #, all the infro had been filed under a dead vets name, hence the screw up. its taken over a year now to get it all straightened out. lucky that he'd kept copies of over 60 yrs. of paperwork.
can we say backpay!!!!!!

Re: re: va help
I talked to the DAV last night philippine time and found out that only certain orgs have a service rep here. So it looks like its going to be American legion since as far as i know its the only one that has a service officer here.
Hope the guy knows what he's doing

Re: re: va help
Read, Read, Read, and Read.
Educate yourself on the process as a check on the service rep.
I didn't like the DAV .... could be just my case or SO, but they seemed to be more concerned with the VA than me. They advocated very well for the VA and not so much for me ... could be isolated, could be systemic.

That is why you need a good VSO or some one to help.redfish wrote:A great deal of frustration today. It is crazy that the VA expects all this paperwork and documentation to be found, kept up with, signed, filed and or maintained by me. I can barely focus on anything, can't remember nuthin', can't tolerate much, can't find anything, can't tolerate people much, can't get motivated and can't follow directions well. My poor wife.
Sometime the VA will be asking for thing you do not have to be sending in.
