Noisy ... not noisy ... LOUD ... VERY LOUD ... Bone Jarrin' Loud ... Brain Rattlin' Loud.

We were in our 'set' positions providing ARTY support to 3/2 ACR when these folks rolled up behind us. I was behind my track smoking a cigarette. One of the the crew chiefs dismounted and said he had to fire, that we should button up.

Someone in our battery got this picture ... don't remember who, we swapped a lot of pictures when we got back to Germany. I scanned it and edited it for my web page.

Sorry FA1SGret,

This is not 4/27. Go to http://www.gwchronicles.com

This is a photo of 176 Battery Royal Artillery. I had to get permission from Her Majesty's Stationary Office to use this photo on the cover. It has a Crown Copyright/MOD.

Thanks for the clarification.

Like I said, a lot of pictures were floating around.

Would the 176 Battery Royal Artillery have been attached to VII Corp by chance?

The print I have does not have a copyright on it.

Yes, they were part of VII Corps. I have a funny story for you about copyright.

I searched all over the internet to find a picture for the cover of my book. I found this one and thought that the MLRS shot really exemplifies Operation Desert Storm. And, it is a very cool picture.

So, I put together the book cover using this pic. Then, my publisher said I need to get rights to use the photo. So, I went back to the original website and sent a message to the webmaster, asking for permission.

I never heard back, and soon the photo was gone from that site. Turns out that they had "yoinked" it from another site, without permission. (A common occurance on the internet)

I nearly panicked. But a deeper search uncovered the website for the British Artillery unit. They had the photo and after more investigation, I found out how to get permission to use it.

Now all of those sit at Red River Army Depot. I guess someone wanted a wheeled launcher but now they know that was a stupid idea.

Thanks for the resupply, we sure needed it. We went through a lot of rockets. My launcher alone fired 86 rockets. It's just good to hear from fellow soldiers.

funny feeling having them fire the MRLS over your head!! then watching the hits a few clicks back from the target area.
