Saw a thing somewhere about the next reality show was gonna be with a unit in Afghanistan. I have mixed thoughts. First I'm glad the spotlight will be on the military and people can see some of the stress. However, I'mm afraid that they may think first and then shoot being too afraid that they might be second guessed by the public. I do not wanna see any of them get killed worrying about the cameras. It has always been my thought that cameras have no place in combat. Soldiers do what is needed in combat and bad shit happens that does not need to be critiqued by the bleeding hearts sitting in lazy boys enjoying their freedom which was provided for them by us.

This morning, my daughter and I were talking about an essay she is writing for English. The topic is "We are: Because they were....."
She started her essay with "We are FREE, because they were willing to lay down their lives for us."
Pretty powerful words coming from a 13 year old girl!! And although she knows men and women everywhere lay down their lives everyday for us, she does not need to watch it on television. Isn't that why the United States Military does what it does, so we don't khave violence in our living rooms??
Sometimes, I don't know where media's heads are??
What if my son was on that show and I watched him step on an IED?? Tell me where to write letters and I will start typing!!
Stepping of my soap box now!!

Right girl! I saw a photo on the internet last year from Iraq of a young man with his legs blown off and he died. I felt terrible for the family and what if he had kids. Wow. I liked our war. No reporters north of the border. The media didnt even know where the 197th was. That was the way to do it. It does not need to be televised.
