God Bless the thirty thousand soon to be deployed and those who are already deployed. The problem I still see with this tactic is there is no identified objective to be an end point. Example: Iraq now and Nam . Desert Storm was done by Colon Powell who from experience knew there had to be a finish line. Free Kuwait. Then, go home. That is why he did not endorse re-invading Iraq. Where is the finish line? When do you pick up your toys and go home?

I personally think it should be 100K, heavy on the arty and mortars ... make contact and keep contact.

Amen. If we are gonna get in it, get in it to win it. Shock and stomp.

Once we finish this new bunkerbuster that will penetrate over 60' of reinfoced concrete, we should randomly drop a few dozen in those mountians. I am pretty sure we'll get someone or at least mess up some of the cavework system they have going on.

In a better world, I'd love to be able to explore those caves and see how extensive they are.

Rough terrain for sure. I'd sure hate to have to work through them, but I think its necessary. Of course back seat driving is always easier than doing the actual driving.

I'm all for shock and stomp, or just plain stomping around, making a whole bunch of noise, and who so ever raises a weapon against us gets smacked down like nobody's business.

I understand that we helped build most of those cave systems, but yeah it would be something to see. I visited a couple of the tunnels that went under the DMZ in Korea ... amazing.

It is ugliness ... no other way to do it but get ugly.

I spent a little time on the DMZ on the ROK back in '88 where were you Top? Welcome back Dagger. I had wondered if you had gone AWOL. You all know how to kill rats in the ground? Fill the caves with gasoline and light it up from afar. I'm not a big fan of putting them all in jail so we can house them. I'd say finish it on site. I also have hated all the media and cameras that have been around the combat in Iraq. Shit happens, as we all know, in combat that does not need to be judged and scrutinized by coscientious objectors :x .

Get all in or get all out.

Get all in or get all out I like that.

I did 4 tours in 2ID ... one tour was almost three years 85 - 88.

Most was in 1/15 FA at stanley, until we moved to casey in 88. Did several rotations to 4-P-1 and 4-P-3.

Did a couple of months in 1/23rd Inf at Liberty Bell, they needed an FO ... I volunteered ... wrong decision. Ended up doing a lot of patrolling and a few days on Ouellette.

I was at camp mercer, 87-89 we used to go to Itawon, youngsan post. I got to travel to camp nimble a couple of times. I could tell it was wild there. I also went down south to some place called WAGON, it was fun there to. Korea was the best tour i had done, state side duty was often boring.

Nimble was the engineer post. It was very small only a company. Straight out the gate from Casey. Wow, those days were wild. Sounds like we three have chewed some of the same rice paddy. Honey trucks, Kimche, whores and hangovers. WHEW!! I don't think I spent a sober night over there. Wild times...

Bravo CO. 44th engr BN. 8th Army. I used to hang alot in the Oasis. We used to go on thunder runs to that club where the "outlaws" hung out and God Almighty the bar fight was on. Possible Top. We might have had a beer or 12 or split a bottle of Oscar or Soju. I spent a lot of time in the Mogas houses.

True ironic story:

I graduated high school in a class of 72 students. I went to basic, AIT and straight to Korea. Midnight in TDC at the Oasis club I ran into a guy I graduated high school with named Willie Jackson. Damn small world.

You're right Top. Oh the things I remember and the things I don't.

Eat any double ramen and cheese?
