Aschaffenburg Germany '87-'90

Post by shoppettegirl » Thu Jun 29, 2006 2:53 am

Anyone stationed there during that time?

I worked @ the shoppette from late '87-mid '89 then I worked the DPP counter @ the PX-both on Jaeger Kaserne.

I was stationed at the Ready Barracks 84 to 88 (D co 4/66 AR). I didn't hang all that much at Jaeger (not too many of the tankers did iirc) - but I did pretty much lived at the Irish Pub...

Anyone else?

Upper mid-Wurzberger Strasse - a goodways up the hill from Jaeger Ksrn and right 'below' the barracks that used to house the Engineer Battalion there (can't recall that barracks name any longer) in Aschaffenburg.

Owner Dave Sinclair - his brother Locho (SIC) - Dane the Bouncer - Scotch Dave... Too many friends left behind.

I've checked it on Google Earth and the Pub - and indeed much of those Kasernes - look to have been flattened.

Ready looks to have had a retail store built over its motor pool too.

Sad... sad...

No, that was "4 Floors Rock & Roll House". It was located just outside next to the Irish Pub there in Sachsenhausen, Frankfurt.

Oh the memories...and lack thereof because of all the beer.

I so miss the real Guiness beer.

Here is some video of that area to include the 4 Floors bar.
Day Trip through Sachsenhausen, Frankfurt.

Its an 11mb video that will take some time to load, think its on a slow server on the other end but worth watching if you spent a lot of time at Sachsenhausen partying into the early 90's.

A'burg during 1987

Post by Dewey » Tue Sep 25, 2007 10:10 am

I was stationed there at the Fiori kaserne in 1987. I was in the 1/80th FA and then the name changed to 3/12th FA for some reason. Does anyone remember the names of some of the nightclubs there. I used to hang out at this dive heavy metel club called Logos. There were others but I forgot the names. They were on the Strasse. I think one was a black club called Abilene's or something like that.

My post was in response to shoppettegirl. I know it's been 20 years, but I stumbled upon this forum and now I'm curious to connect with someone that was there in Asschaffenburg in 1987 and 1988.

It would have been one of these:
  • Jaeger barracks
    Fiori Barracks
    Smith Barracks
    Graves Barracks
    Ready Barracks
Jaeger Ksn & Smith Bks were very close to each other.

Here is some more info on Aschaffenburg to help with some of those memories.
