Mortars

Post by Huds » Mon Nov 28, 2005 2:07 am

What exactly is mortars? Is it a certain branch of the army? I had a penpal who was in the army, who said his job was like artillery, but was called mortars. I am having trouble locating his group. I just wondered if it is a certain branch or if it is in all branches of the army. Thanks

Mortar is a weapon, and if your job is a mortarman, than you are in Mortars.

Did your friend say he "called mortars", or was called "mortars"? Huge difference. If he said he was in the artillery, then he was a 13F, F.I.S.T. that called for fire, and the phrase usually heard from fisters is "I call mortars". I know. I was a 13F. :)
