Has there been a reduction in trash since changing to login posting this week?

Oh yes there has. I am only waking up and deleting 3-5 each day as opposed to 30-60 most days. As they post during the day, I banned them after their first post if it doesn't conform to the format this forum is based on. They don't seem to be interested in registering again rigfht away to continue on after realizing I am lurking in the shadows.

I leave the forum up 24/7 now and look just about everytime I walk past the computer at home (even at night when I get up to take a leak or give my son a bottle.

At work I sit at a computer all day and leave it up there and bounce back and forth between the forum and my other system.

I hate to say it but its almost become an obsession keeping these idiots off the forum.

For some reason we don't have a SPAM problem over at VFWWEBCOM.Org. I am not sure if we are using some sort of software to block the SPAM or not. I am one of two moderators and I have never had to delete something (or someone) because of SPAM.

Its considerably less now that Scott has enabled the email verification in order to post. We still have 20-30 registering per day but only about 5-10 of them actually verify the email and even less actually post.

I delete all websites & signatures listed within their profiles which is part of why they are here in the first place. The more places a URL is posted increases a websites rankings in some search engines like Google and Lycos and so on.

There are still a lot of registered users that are spammers from way back here but they never post and I am slowly getting a handle on losing their webiste ads & signature URLs.

I just screwed the pooch and unbanned everyone that was banned. Now I am going through all 9255 registered names and banning again. Almost done too.

Only re-banning those who have visited after registering for now. Will go ban-happy later on and get rid of the rest of them.

999 banned so far. Most being spammers who only registered to list a URL and never have posted. Of the spammers that have posted, I deleted most of the spam posts from them. I am sure there are more but I am banned out for now...lol

Once Scott gets a chance to get in here and actually delete those I banned then we will have a pretty clean forum.

Thanks for the offer but its simple as long as I don't do dumb things like unban everyone...lol I still can't believe I did that. Oh well, fixed it in an hour and actually did a better job the 2nd time around.
