daughter of a vet who needs information please :-)

Post by shanalm » Thu Dec 29, 2011 7:13 pm

hello everyone.

first i would like to say thank you to each one of you.
secondly i would like to apologize if i step on anyones toes.

My father John Marshall was a medic in the Army and we lived in Hinesville georgia when he was deployed with the group from fort stewart.

i had just turned 6 when he came home and i do not remember too much about his deployment. i remember yellow ribbons, belting out proud to be an american when i could, letters from dad and i will never ever forget when he came home. but, there are some things that are fuzzy.

my parents divrced shortly after and my mom in a rage threw everything out.

i and another person have written a play that has been picked up by a theater. it is about a soldier deployed in operation desert storm, and it is told through letters written to and from his family. and i would love to have pictures and news paper articles on display for the people to read. i was wondering if anyone knew where i could find anything. google has helped me very little and like i said i don't have anything from my dad's deployment left.

if anyone could direct me where to go i would be the most greatful person in the world.

thank you for taking the time to read my post.

god bless each of you :-) and Happy New Year

I would help ya out but I see you ain't been back. If I notice you come back, I'll toss some ideas around. There are a lot of pictures and artifacts around for you. Several museums, etc..... I've seen lots of pictures, maps and the actual AAR on the net. Keep looking they're not hard to find.

It will be coming out on paper back this summer,so look for it in the book stores. The title is called { The night i got drunk and fell through the screen door then threw up and craped my pants.} Lol

That is the man I remember from Ft. Benning. I think I'm qualified for the lead in your play. The epilogue can be like my story. For the next years to come the washed up nobody give a damn about vet stays drunk in the yard with puke in his hair and shit in his pants. 50 different jobs, 3 marriages, numerous arrests, 5 different states to live in and children who now won't talk to him. Don't forget the VA guy who runs onto the stage in the middle of this and kicks the vet in the head and then takes a shit in the vets hat and then runs off the stage

instead of 3D glasses you get 400 mg of trazadone with each ticket!!! For your viewing enjoyment!
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
