I'm lookin' to start a fight with the SSA. Anybody got any advice? I'm writing a self report letter that uses their own regulations to our benefit for PTSD. Anybody got experience with it?

I don't personally but my co-workers husband is 100% disabled by Social Security. He is still fighting for PTSD disability from the VA. They recently went back for another C&P and the SSI rating is going to have a big influence in his VA rating, as they can share records. From what I have heard from a former Marine buddy of mine, Social Security is much easier to deal with than the VA.

Filed for social security this morning. It went well and she said I should hear something within 60 to 90 days. Unless they schedule a C&P and then it could take a little longer. Sounds promising.

I thought about filing too, so, I would appreciate an update if you dont mind..? Good luck, I hope everything works out. Did you file on your own, or through a rep?

Filed on my own. Looked on the internet for what I needed to bring. Called and got an appointment. Went in and they opened me a claim. A guy called today said he was requesting my medical from the VA and he would be in touch. So far so good.

i filed for SSN 2 months ago and they got all my files and then some files i sent them a C&P from Dallas, and that's all it took, i got it, plus backpay which was not all the way back like i wanted but got backpay for a year....so now the SSN is paying and again still waiting on the dam VA.....Redfish I hope you get it too....i have always heard all the denials and that's why i did not file, but according to SSN i worked long enough with their credit system i was able to apply for disability and got it, i was shocked too...i have been down on my luck on finding a job and really close to going way broke that this really help me out....so at least i can live a little comfortable, just wish i can sleep during our anniversary of going into Iraq, I can't sleep for shit lately..ugh...

I went on SSI for a motorcycle crash 12 years a go. Even as screwed up as I was, I was denied initially. I had good insurance through work, and filing for SSI was part of the disability contract. Upon denial, they provided a lawyer, who hardly did anything other than file for the appeal hearing. I think the initial denial is just a knee-jerk reaction because they know many won't challenge it. The judge awarded my claim, how's a judge gonna argue against specialist, doctors reports? He awarded 2 years worth, with another hearing requirement at 2 years to confirm any continuation requirement. I ended up going back to work, but the point is, don't be scared away on the first denial. That said, a lawyer will probablt expedite matters as well.

Yep, up to take a leak at 3am, tossed and turned until around until 4am so I just got up. For some reason, I seem to wake up in the early part of the 3am hour every morning no matter what time I head to bed. I hate it too.

I filed for ss a while back got denied, now I'm in the process of appealing it. Went through my vet rep and he was very helpful. I had to find a lawyer for the appeal. There are alot of questions you have to keep record of what you tell the psycologist like has any symptoms have gotten better or worse. I wonder if I should have gotten a lawyer the first time. Then they said something about a hearing. Good luck for everyone thats trying to get it. Seems kinda confusing to me sometimes.
