New member from Saudi Arabia

Post by saad » Mon Oct 11, 2010 10:13 pm

Hi, My name is Saad.

I am from Rafha City In Saudi Arabia at the northern borders 30 KM from Iraqi's borders.

excuse My English mistakes if there is any..

I am very happy that I could find this forum because I was a small kid (8 yrs old) when the desert storm war began.

Now I am a Computer teacher In on of the Five high schools In my city Rafha

All what I carry with me from the 1990-1991 years is memory and the best memory about the USA soldiers..

I can remember their camps near us and their hummers visiting our humble shops (Souq).

I still remember the candies they used to give us when they pass by our street..

I wish I can write more about my good memories from that time but My English is helding me down so I hope you get my feeling about how great personalities you American soldiers were in Our life...

Now all what I am hoping to get is some pictures from your albums for my city rafha and any thing related to that like names of locals you knew here and places and stories etc...

I am really trying to hold my tears when I remember those days..

A mix of bad memories(WAR) and pleasant memories(you guys)..

thank you all you brave American soldiers ..

we apreciate what you sacrifice for your country and for the Saudi country

I hope you accept me as a new member

regards

saad

What a different vantage point. I would love to hear more. Welcome to the forum. I just remembered a story. We were moving north on tapline road. The whole 24th division moved. Anyway, we had a flat. It was right next to a little store in Saudi. We got out and 2 Saudi men stopped. They got out and insisted on helping. They changed the flat and went in the store and brought out snacks and sodas while we waited. What a great gesture. They were diplomats for their nation as far as we were concerned and we were glad to meet them.

Thank you Saad,
I met many of your countrymen in my work over in SA and they were all very gracious and hospitable. Thank you for dropping in to say hello, and do not worry about your English some of us have days when we do not speak or write correctly either.

thank you all for your feelings

I do have nostalgia to the Gulf war days mixed with bitterness because of the victims we lost both sides..

in Saudi arabia and in Iraq either.

war is a dark side of history but some times people have to do it..

one of the images saved in my memory is the hummer of the USA soldiers passing our street and giving candies to the children playing around (I was one of them) and I do remember one of the soldiers has a camera and it is my dream to see the pictures he took for my childhood.

again my city is Rafha in the northern borders of Saudi Arabia just north of the Tapline

By the way: I was born in the Tapline Hospital there and the nurses where Americans as my mother told me and my parents tells me great stories about them and their kindness...

I love USA and Admire them very much because they have a sweet soul that many around the world don't have.
