Just a little something

Post by tin soldier » Sun Aug 01, 2010 9:32 am

Just a little something I wrote shortly after my first visit to my VA hospital.

Tin Soldier Blues

All wound up, those tin soldier boys, we watch them march, aligned strait, marching true. Forward, never asking or hesitating, forward they go, fear of fate suspended. For some will come glory, for others oblivion, whether living or dead. Watch them gleaming go. Cheer as they go by. Sit back in your sanctuary and watch them gleaming go. Then glimpses you eventually will see of the broken soldiers that return, their spring unwound, their face aimed down, their once shiny paint irrevocably marred, scratches and dings and missing things. They now move at a half step, not knowing why or where they have been, half step moving, rust eating tin.
