I served with M co. 3rd Squadron 3rd ACR during Desert Shield / Desert Storm. I PCSd to Germany in early 1992, missed the move to Fort Carson. I understand 3rd ACR is at Fort Hood now.

To Recruit (from post earlier) reference: "I think our scouts were the ones that took out the tomatoe truck threat as they were attempting to leave the AO." If I recall correctly, the truck was given a warning shot but then turned, sped up and came toward the battle position. After vehicle was engaged, a call came over the radio that "there's a new law in town...we don't like speeders." That
was funny at the time (still is occasionally). As far as someone getting caught and fried in the back of the truck with the safety strap still hooked -well, that wasn't for his safety that day, he got his boot/leg caught and couldn't get out of the truck bed before he became fried.

still have all my pics. passenger slumped into the dash, driver dragged around to passenger side with a 7.62 through the skull and his brains coming out the front of his head. bad day to be a mess hall truck driver.
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
