What was on your Desert Shield/Storm Soundtrack?

Post by Murf » Tue Jun 12, 2007 2:45 am

I made a tape prior to my deployment over to Desert Shield/Storm and it was kind of like my motion picture soundtrack. The playlist is as follows:

Side One

Defender - Manowar
Highway to Hell - AC/DC
Run to the Hills - Iron Maiden
Fire Your Guns - AC/DC
Peace Sells - Megadeth
Disposable Heroes - Metallica
Violence and Bloodshed - Manowar
Got Another Thing Coming - Judas Priest
Blitzkrieg - Metallica (I was listening to this when we crossed over into the Iraqi/Saudi Neutral Zone on the first day of the ground war.)

Side Two

Surf Nicaragua - Sacred Reich
Crushing Day - Joe Satriani
Kings of Metal - Manowar
Ode to Tipper Gore - Warrant
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - AC/DC
For Whom the Bell Tolls - Metallica
Aces High - Iron Maiden
Hail and Kill - Manowar
Warrior's Prayer - Manowar
Black Wind, Fire, and Steel - Manowar

What were the songs or music that carried you through your tour? :?:

I pumped in ACDC over the tracks intercom as we passed through the breech. I was the track commander so of course I had my whole upper half of my body sticking out the top of the track. Best I can remember, I had a butterbar, a 1st LT, a captian and some other enlisted crammed inside my track and nobody complained about my choice of music, not even the countryfrick driver of mine.

Good thing I never needed the AT4 hanging on the back wall, it would have taken forever to get the enlisted and all three officers working together long enough to unhook and hand it up to me.

Heres a little goodie for you,

Yeah, I had a boombox bungee-corded to the hatch behind my head. I flipped the mic from my helmet around so it was behind my head and picking up my "Baghdad or Bust" mix tape to relay it to the other guys in my M577 as I drove into the Neutral Zone. Damnedest thing was seeing how fine the sand had been ground down by all of the vehicles ahead of us...it splashed like water under wheels and tracks! Hey Dagger X-Ray! Thanks for the help with the poll!

Not a problem, by the way, my track was an M577 too. We were a Brigade S-3 and part of the TOC.

Loks as if ACDC and Metallica were the primary choice over there.
