Sarin Gas Exposure

Post by FA1SGret » Mon Jun 11, 2007 10:07 pm

New Article in Army Times about exposure during Desert Storm.

http://www.armytimes.com/news/2007/05/m ... r_070525w/

I've heard talk of these letters that DOD sent out to persons with a 'high risk' of exposure ... did anyone in 2nd ACR get one of these letters?

I was with D Troop 1/7 cav, 1st Cav Div and I got a letter. If I remember correctly 2nd ACR was near us.

I wonder what the VA will say about this new info? More denial I am sure.

I never got any letters. guess I wasn't close enough. I do remember huge plumes of smoke and loud booms when some weapons caches were being detroyed but I guess they were not chemicals.

I got something in the mail a few years ago saying that with new computer models I may have been exposed to fallout from the munitions dump that we destroyed. If you would like I can post it.

Sure, this place is as much about documentation as it is information and memories.

I'm more interested in who recieved the letters, more than the content of the letter.

These site lists 2nd ACR, but doesn't list the supporting units:
http://www.gulflink.osd.mil/an_nasiriyah_sw/index.html
http://www.gulflink.osd.mil/khamisiyah_ ... b.htm#TABB

I know for a fact the we were DS to 2nd ACR during both of these incidents, but I don't know if anyone in our unit got these letters.

I also know that I have several yet to be identified/diagnosed conditions that are 'possibly' resulting from this exposure ...

Thanks for the responses, no need to post the letter.

Happy Father's Day.

I was in 66th MP, we were attached to 2nd ACR and I was wondering if I would get a letter. When I look on the list of units exposed, my BDE HQ is listed and BN but not our company.

I was with the 1-1 CAV 1AD. I received a letter a few years after DS stating I may have been exposed. But then later on received a letter stating the opposite. Since then I’ve received nothing else.

I have a long, comprehensive list of units exposed that I downloaded from the official site. I'll be happy to e-mail to anyone who wants it. Just zip me an e-mail and let me know you want it.
