The "Hello" thread!

Post by troutster » Mon Apr 14, 2003 11:24 am

Since we have lots of new members signing up and not many posting, I figured I would create a post where everyone can just say hi and get that first post out of the way, even if they don't have a response to a current topic.

So, post a quick hello and introduce yourself!

Yours,
Scott

Hi Scott and All,

As you can see I'm just newly registered, and I know how difficult and frustrating it can be getting a new forum going. I'm the founder and web master for an organization called the 101st Timeline Living History Society. More commonly referred to as reenactors, I prefer the term living historian, because its the history I'm interested in learning about, not going out and playing war. Our group bases our demonstrations and public displays on units of the 101st Airborne, and in any time period from W.W.II to Desert Storm. So far our group is the only one I know of that does Desert Storm displays, are there any more of us out there? Would love to hear from you if there is. If you would like to see our web site the URL is http://101_lha.tripod.com/101st_lha/. I started out years ago with a group that reenacted the 327th Glider Infantry (W.W.II) and when I became interested in other time periods, Vietnam and Desert Storm specifically, I just carried along the 327th on which to base my displays, since they fought in all three wars as part of the 101st. Hence, forming a new group and how we chose its name. Pretty new group, just three members so far, but our goal is to be able to do public demonstrations with impressions from all the different time periods at once. Anyway, check out the site, I've been busy adding information from several different news sources for the 101st in Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. I started a forum not long ago too as part of our web site and its been slow going, but fortunately I have a couple friends who stop by and keep it interesting (both 101st Vietnam veterans). Any 101st DS vets out there, would love to hear from you. I'll be stopping by the web site and forum here on a regular basis I'm sure.

Hi Scott and all- I made it back- and I am sure a few remember me- good I hope! Still doing what I do- and glad summer is here- FINALLY and that the kids have 3 more weeks before they are out of school. YIPPIE- rest for mommie!

Did OK with classes- 2 B's and a C. and speaking of classes- did you ever finnish mr. Scott?? I know you were close to being done.

Update on my middle child for those that remember when I came into all of this- she is the one with the headaches and swollen lymph node- anyhow- they FINALLY ran blood work and guess what- ongoing infection- we are a week into month 2 of antibiotics!! The headaches are a little better, and so is the light sensitivity- but I am still a tad torqued that it took 3 years, 8 doctors and a neurologist finally ran the blood test and a CT scan. ARGH!! Awful care is apparently not just for the Vets any more- and all of those were civillian docs- and she is just now 6. It has been a long haul but getting somewhere finally.

My son sees the eye specialist in june and hubby is the same as always- crankey and obstinant. Me- hanging in. Take care- and just wanted to update everyone- I know alot of prayers were said from here for her- and they have finally paid off!!

I would like to ask for some prayers for shortbob- I won't discuss the details because that is his job- but just know he really needs them right now. Take care all- tonia
Take care all, tinkerBel992000

Welcome back, good to see some of the "regulars" are finding there way back here.
Thanks for the update on the kids, and shortbob, but couldn't you have brought some good news??? I for one like to hear the good things in our lives! Hang in there, things will get better, they always do. Your family and shortbob are in my thoughts.

LOL Thomas- that is as close to GOOD news as I get. Aside from the fact that when I sent out my grades- I said I had 2 C's and a B- but it shoulda been 2 B's and a C.

All things considered- I am happy summer is here, the kids still have 2 more weeks of school and I get a little bit of a break!

Beyond that- I made it to the NGWRC conference in KC- had a blast- have a few things to work on and will get a full report done- just being slow.

I am hanging in- and hope everyone else is too. take care- tonia
