Well I got them today

Post by rodneyw71 » Sat Nov 25, 2006 8:30 pm

A month ago I sent off the DD149 to get the two other Desert Storm Medals added to my DD214, and today I got them in the mail. I got the Medals in nice boxes with a letter from the Air force, in short is says, After a thorough review of your military records we have verified your entitlement to the KLM-SA and KLM-K for your deployment to Saudia Arabia from 1990 to 1991.

Your records have been fowarded to the Retirements and Seperations section to have your awards added on your DD214.

This is the best thing that has happened to me in a long time, I want to thank you , Dagger, Bilbo, Danger foward, for any help and ideas you gave me. Now I have to buy new Ribbon racks so I can display them correctly. Again thank you. Rodney

The VFW web site has them, I had to work today, and was having a crappy day.....and my wife called me and told me what I got in the mail. I was so happy, I never pick up the garbage so fast....I wanted to get home right then. These medals are cool, but the letter they sent me means alot, and it was signed in ink. I wish they would have added the third star to my South West Asia medal, when we got back we had 3 stars but they told us we could only wear 2 and that is what is on my 214. I can't wait until next Nov. 11 so I can wear them proudly. :D

I clicked on the e-bay link, the cases are very reasonable, now I don't know which one I want.

I think you can write to someplace and request your flag, too, before you die. Either that, or order a display case that holds a flag and leave it ominously empty. 8O

I was on a DOD web site, and there are still 131,000 unclaimed Liberation of Kuwait medals (Both of them) sitting in a warehouse.

I never had either on my DD214, they sent me both Kuwait medals, and told me they were fowarding a letter to Seperations and they are going to add them to my 214, and I will hear from them in a seperate letter. Go on this web site, http://www.archives.gov, Scroll down and on the right side it will say E vet recs, click on that, then scroll down and on the left side you will see a section for Record correction, click on that and print out a DD 149, and send it to the address that they have on there.

Some people told me it took them 8 weeks to get them, the letter I got said they weren't going to send them to a review board, they were sending everything right to seperations, I sent them copies of everything I had to prove I was there. If any body needs any help PM me, or E-mail me and I will send you a copy of the letter they sent me.

They are your Medals, you earned them, you deserve them, if you do not have them their sitting in a warehouse waiting for you. :D

There is Kuwait liberation Saudi, and Kuwait liberation Kuwait. The Saudi has the palm tree on it, and the other is Green, black, white and red. The second one came out in '94 and that is probably why none of us had seen it. Pictures of them are in the thread Brain fart deseet storm.

I'm still waiting on the letter from seperations, I'll let you know when I get it, and what it says. If you need any help let me know.
