ah chicken ala cat food, i remember that. To me it was like openeing a tin of cat food for dinner. Our chow sergeant was always late to pick up the food at the drop poiunt everyday for us and we normally got chicken ala cat food, not normally heated up but in a variety of disturbing colors.

I ripped this from "Facebook" , it's by a Marine that served with us in the sand box . He has a gift for words I lack , hope You enjoy.

"David K Winnett Jr Thanksgiving…..giving thanks….expressing gratitude…..that’s easy. I’m thankful for many things, but very high on my list are the millions of Veterans who have stood watch over the freedoms that I enjoy each and every day. Many of these Ve...terans never came home; lost for eternity in the fog of war, buried on foreign soil, some in clearly marked graves that fill beautifully landscaped cemeteries in far off places, others buried anonymously in hidden places where they’ll never be found. No matter their final resting place these heroes gave everything that they could possibly give, so that you and I could be free to celebrate a holiday named Thanksgiving.

I’m thankful for their selflessness and no matter where they finally came to rest; they live forever in my heart. I keep their memory alive and everlasting, honoring their sacrifices, for without them I would not have anything to be thankful for. They are the foundation that supports everything that America stands for. Give thanks that these brave men and women once lived, before you give thanks for anything or anybody else; because without America’s warriors there would be no Thanksgiving. So on Thanksgiving Day, to our Veterans, living and dead I say; Thanks for Giving."
