Our chemical detectors went off all the time as well. We were told that it was "just sand in the system." If it was just sand then why did they keep them running? Not only are we the forgotten war, we are unwilling guinea pigs.

They told us it was diesel fumes and track exhaust. But we knew better. If that was the case why did'nt they go off at Benning or at NTC in California? Why all the PB pills now? Why did they want all the PB pills back after cease fire including the wrappers? Why did our field chemical detectors always come back inconclusive? Why were we covered in black/gray stuff? We didn't they lock the theatre of operations down when chemical weapons were found? Why didn't they handle all the weapons caches better? Why have they denied all this? Why all the denial of health benefits? Too much...

We will never get answers to these questions. As far as the chemical weapons, from what I have seen, they were American and Russian and they needed to get rid of the evidence before the world had proof that we are illegally supplying chemical weapons to third world nations. And since you mentioned it, I remember now someone telling us it was diesel fumes and/or sand.

Their lack of action on these topics is evasive to say the least. Knowing how the military is, why didn't they lock down all the ammo depots found and properly inventory and destroy them instead of asking every platoon leader with any form of explosive to destroy them in every possible manner imaginable causing all kinds of cooked off rounds and who knows what else? Seemed like everything else at the time but now it seems.........odd.

Friend of mine lost his youngest son last Thursday morning. He went in to wake him up and was unable to arouse him. Medical examiner found an undiagnosed congenital heart defect. He turned 1 in January. My youngest son turns 1 this week. I can not imagine.... Nothing but prayers here the last few days. God speed little Garrett. God speed.

OMG, I couldn't imagine going through that. I feel for him and the rest of his family. My kids mean everything to me but I think it would hit me hardest if something happened to my son. My 2 kids are my reason for living.
