I am a Research and Development technician in the automotive industry. You don't want a job like mine because the auto industry is horrible right now (a lot of people out of work), but at one time it was a good industry to be in.

I've been looking for a career change (15 years driving truck is getting old) I have been looking at becoming a cop, but I'm to old, 35 is the max, missed it by a year. I can get college money through the Reserves, but I don't have time to go, I like working on cars, but the only school is almost a hour away, I work 10 -11 hrs, so I don't know. Money's tight, so I don't know if I could afford to throw another wrench in my life.

I just noticed I say "I don't know alot", because I just don't know, I sure will suck as a NCO.

You might be suprised at how much grant and loan money is available ... just start out working on a General Studies degree until you find something that suits you.

Are you a veteran? Montgomery GI Bill? ACF?

Disabled at 30% or more? Applied for Vocational Rehab?

Low income? Grants & Loans based on FAFSA?

Scholarships from a lot of different places .... VFW, American Legion, AUSA, NCOA, State, Federal, and Private programs.

Just wanted to share some food for thought.

Here i sit knee deep in snow, it's raining and will snow again later. I'll be in front of the tv watching the New England Patriots-vs-New York Giants game. Anyone else out there follow this season? There was alot of good games, blow outs too. Hope all had a good christmas along with a safe one. I finally got a new disability rating scheduled for 2 Jan 08. Man it's about time! The wife and i have just barely been able to stay afloat with little income. The va sure can drag disability cases out. Thankfully i have a really great american legion rep. He has really done alot in the seven months we have been working together. He earns his money and i really appreciate him. All else seems quiet here in maine. Well except for all the drugs and robberies in a few big cities. May all have good health and a loved one close.
Looking for whomever was with the same unit and on route 8 in Iraq. I need verification that I was there. Am hitting brick walls with VA desk jockey. Thanks for serving.

I was on guard duty both New Year Eve and New Year Day. I was sent out by my platoon and forgotten about. I did not eat for over 24 hours and luckily I had two full canteens when I went out for guard duty. I will quit my post only when properly relieved.

Three day work week ... should be a piece of cake.

But don't forget to take your canteens ... just in case.
