Doc did a bunch of test on me and tells me I have it. He wanted to put me on some kind of breathing thing when I go to sleep. I told him no thanks and didn't go back.

Came home, wife didn't know what to do wit me, so we divorced. I ended up being sick when I came back...who knows why, because the government says we're telling stories. Personally I didn't have any home coming, no medical out processing, had all the sleeping problems most have and have been told I ...

I have been to meetings for the AL and VFW. Personally I won't join-untill I see them go to bat for Gulf War veterans more than they are, then they are not for me. I think they are great groups, but I look at what they do for the veterans. While these groups have been very helpful to some veterans-w...

Thanks rodneyw71, this is the only one I have though. I have been thinking about making it longer. I had written this one for a fly fishing mag, but they decided they didn't want to publish any stories after they sent out a call for them. I had to shorten it because of their requierments though. Dangerfoward, that very well could be the case. I know what I was trying to say when I worded the poll question, I guess it just didn't come out that way. What I'm wanting to know; is the story relatable to you or any one you know. Maybe I should find a way to re-word it, ugh!

Fictional Story of one Desert Storm Veteran

I slowly began to walk out of the river I had been fishing, knowing the sun would set in thirty minutes or so. The sky was beginning to display its colors, of red and orange, mixing together. I had spent a wonderful day fishing the slowly moving river for Rainbows and enjoying the fall scenery, my f...

I was married to my first wife for 13 years and I was so diffrent when I returned that we ended up getting a divorce because I wouldn't talk to her about things, nor did I like too. I have since remarried and I take my wife with me to 99% of my sit downs at the VA, so that it helps both of us. I don...

Movie "Star" Jake Gyllenhaal, has shocked American Gulf War veterans by joking they did nothing but "masturbate" during their time in the desert in 1991. The cheeky 25-year-old stars in JARHEAD, a movie exposing the US soldiers' lack of combat in the Middle Eastern conflict. He said, "The US soldier...

My Story

How do you begin to tell a story about yourself and your experiences during a war? Where do you start when you know that there is no possible way to explain to someone what you have been through, knowing they will have no idea what you’re talking about or how it makes you feel to even think about it...
