Did your friend say he "called mortars", or was called "mortars"? Huge difference. If he said he was in the artillery, then he was a 13F, F.I.S.T. that called for fire, and the phrase usually heard from fisters is "I call mortars". I know. I was a 13F. :)

I came across a downed Harrier that I still have pictures of when I was on a recon of the surrounding area just after we stopped fighting. Aside from that, I couldn't be much help.

Handle what? Can you be a little bit more specific? We're ordinary people. What's there to handle about working with a Vet?

Re: fight for oil

:) i am a big believer in our country and freedom but when we are fighting in Iraq to seize their oil and take over their country I have to draw the line You're a believer alright, maybe too much in fairy tales. I haven't seen a drop of oil "seized" since the Gulf War, or Operation Iraqi Freedom. H...

Typical officer shit. This happend with us as well. E-6 and above, Bronze Star. E-5 and below, ARCOM. How is that right? Officers in the rear were awarded higher than the grunts on the line. BS!

Well, as much of a sad story as it is, I'm not moved. These same EPW's that given the chance, had us out numbered or in a position like they were, wouldn't be as kind as we were. Sorry, but this Vet says tough shit. Life sucks. I lost a few friends while fighting with the 3rd Inf Div. I don't give a...
