Re: B/511th M.I Bn/207 BDE

Been a long time since I've been to this site. So you were there, too, huh? What's your name?

Re:

I actually had a choice because I was an only child. There were two of us that had this decision to make and we both decided to go. I had no idea before we were called that as an only child I would be given a choice. My mom thought I was crazy for going. She just did not understand. My dad as a Vie...

Really, it's my pleasure posting it, guys! Thanks so much for taking the time to read it! And just to let you guys know, I've only been a member for a few weeks now, but I've already gotten back into contact with three people from my old unit! Thanks!

Tried Military.com...but to no avail. I have the email address for only one of my buddies, but he doesn't keep in contact with anybody else. Thanks for the advice, Dagger X-Ray!

Don't know any of those guys, but I did have a buddy from AIT that I ran into during Desert Storm. He was in 502nd, too. Cliff Dize? Does that name ring a bell? He and I were both 98C and both drove M577s during the war. Haven't talked to him since then. Sure would like to, though!

Yeah, I guess you're right, Dagger X-Ray. I'm hoping that some of my Brothers from my unit will find this website so that we can reconnect and share some storytelling...I'm sure they remember stuff that I don't.

Thanks, man...glad you enjoyed it! I had hoped that one day I would get more written, but I've felt really uninspired with the new war going on. I know that my experiences were nothing like what those guys are going through now. It makes my story seem kind of trivial.

I was always on the lookout for a Stars and Stripes in the sandbox to cut out Doonesbury. I had several taped up next to the rifle rack above the cargo door of the M577 that I drove.

Glad you are enjoying my work, Dagger X-Ray! I appreciate that! Yeah, that Lovely Little Lady with the long brown hair was something special! Ahh, the memories! (not to mention the mammaries!)

Yeah, I had a boombox bungee-corded to the hatch behind my head. I flipped the mic from my helmet around so it was behind my head and picking up my "Baghdad or Bust" mix tape to relay it to the other guys in my M577 as I drove into the Neutral Zone. Damnedest thing was seeing how fine the sand had b...

Jake Gyllenhaal is only qualified to act like he knows your story, Scout. He really doesn't know it. Nobody does! Five years ago when me and some of my brothers from Desert Storm got together in Las Vegas, we all had different stories to tell...even though we were all there together. We all remember...

What was on your Desert Shield/Storm Soundtrack?

I made a tape prior to my deployment over to Desert Shield/Storm and it was kind of like my motion picture soundtrack. The playlist is as follows: Side One Defender - Manowar Highway to Hell - AC/DC Run to the Hills - Iron Maiden Fire Your Guns - AC/DC Peace Sells - Megadeth Disposable Heroes - Meta...

My Desert Shield/Storm experiences

I just found this website and posted some of the memoirs that I wrote during college so that I could share them. Hope they give you a new view of the First Gulf War. Please visit my website at http://www.pyroinsomnia.com/eds.html to read my stuff. Thanks!
